THE VISION
A two-story, 36-room inn on Linden Avenue. The design is airy, casual and approachable. It calls back to Downtown Carpinteria’s historic rail stop, modernizes local lodging and updates Linden Avenue with a beachside inn.
THE DESIGN
Visible to rail passengers traveling the California Coast, The Surfliner Inn is envisioned as a community asset and symbol of Carpinteria’s small town beach vibe. The Surfliner’s pleasing design and local business benefits will tie together Carpinteria’s downtown. Hotel bed taxes and community revenue sharing will directly benefit Carpinteria community resources. At 36 rooms, The Surfliner is an opportunity to add a welcoming lodging experience that honors Carpinteria’s character.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY
The Surfliner Inn offers many community benefits. Getting this project right for the community is important. Revenue sharing from the lease agreement and hotel bed taxes will support local services and community resources.

We hope to earn approval to bring lodging to Linden Avenue.
WHAT'S NEXT?
We wish we could open The Surfliner Inn tomorrow. First proposed in 2018, The Surfliner has been discussed for years. Our team has been listening and adjusting. Now we are ready to go step-by-step through the official review process. Our goal is to earn public approval and construct a project that is great for Carpinteria.

2017 – The City of Carpinteria released a Request for Proposals to develop an inn at its rail station property. The Surfliner Inn proposal was accepted.
2022 — The results of a voter initiative affirmed the community’s wish for The Surfliner Inn proposal to undergo public review.
2023/2024 — Project planners began to finalize plans for submission to the City of Carpinteria before putting forth a project application.
Coming Soon — City of Carpinteria Architectural Review Board Review
Next Steps — City planners and elected representatives will consider all of the design elements of the project and consider input from all community stakeholders.
Our goal — To showcase this project as one that belongs in Carpinteria and to earn approval to construct an inn that serves the community’s needs.
